RESEARCH PRESENTATIONS

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 23:59 PT FRIDAY 20 NOVEMBER

Public Health 2027 is seeking the latest and most relevant public health research. Priority will be given to recently completed work that presents new findings, timely evidence or a meaningful advancement in public health knowledge or practice.

For each submission, the submitter must choose one keyword category that best suits the overarching theme of the submission, and select the preferred presentation format.

  • Poster presentation only
  • Oral or poster presentation

Proposals may be submitted in either English or French, however simultaneous interpretation will not be provided and French accepted presenters must be comfortable presenting in English.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Research features innovative studies that fill critical gaps in public health knowledge.

Data, other research, and abstracts presented at other conferences will not be accepted.

Abstracts focused primarily on individual clinical care, clinical practice, diagnosis or treatment will not be accepted, unless a broader public health relevance is identified.

Priority will be given to recently completed work presenting new findings, timely evidence or a meaningful advancement in public health knowledge or practice.

Submissions must include results and identify the status of the research at the time the abstract is submitted.

Authors with abstracts describing planned research, ongoing data collection or analyses without available results or conclusions are encouraged to submit their research for consideration at Public Health 2028 once substantive results are available.

PRESENTATION FORMATS

ORAL PRESENTATION

Space for oral presentations is very limited and only the highest rated research abstracts will be considered for an oral presentation.

Abstracts that are assigned an Oral presentation will share a common research topic or complimentary theme and a maximum of four abstracts are grouped together into a 60-minute session. Individual presentation time is 12 minutes with a 3-minute Q&A period.

Poster Presentation

Presenters will engage with participants during two dedicated poster presentation sessions on Wednesday 17 March from 16:00 - 17:30 and Thursday 18 March from 8:00 - 9:00.

RESEARCH TEMPLATE

REVIEW CRITERIA

The following criteria will be used by reviewers to evaluate each research submission:

Objectives – Does the research address a gap in existing public health knowledge, provide a clear rationale for the study and clearly state the study objectives?

Methods – Are the methods clearly described and appropriate to the study objectives?

Results and analyses – Are the results and analyses clearly described and appropriate, and do they address the stated objectives?

Conclusions – Are the conclusions and interpretations justified and supported by the results and analyses?

Application to public health – Does the abstract clearly demonstrate how the findings can be applied to advance public health research, policy development or program development?

Overall quality and clarity – Is the abstract well written, clear and coherent?

GUIDELINES

Submissions must meet the following criteria otherwise, they will not be accepted for peer review:

Submissions MUST be completed using the template provided and be submitted electronically.

The template CANNOT be changed to include additional sections. The template must be submitted as a Word document.

Abstracts must not exceed 300 words, excluding the title and section headings.

A maximum of two (2) submissions may be submitted as the presenting author.

The submitting author certifies that all co-authors and/or co-presenters agree to the submission.

ACCEPTANCE

Submitters will be notified of the outcome by Thursday 7 January.

All speakers who present must be registered for at least one day of the conference by Tuesday 2 March in order to be included in the program.

No financial assistance is available for registration, travel, or accommodation fees.
